    got enough room indoors?

Alright heres the deal. Im 15. My family just moved and i have convinced my parents to let me hang a hammock up in my room (they are not currently aware that i will be sleeping there and not in the bed!) but i have 2 questions...
    1. the space to hang it in is only 11 feet wide, and im wondering if i can get a comfortable hang with my anchor points this close together.
    2. Want would you recommend for indoor hammocks? I am about to purchase an ENO double for my first outdoor after using a friends for a month and now im wondering if this will be fine for indoors. I 6ft and 145 lbs if this helps at all!
thanks in advance for the help!

my 10'6" hammock fits within 11', the eno isn't that long.

As long as you have good hardware, well anchored, you should be fine.

As a kid, my hammock was anchored to the top plate of each wall with 3/8" hardware, I never had any issues. YMMV

Agreed. The ENO will be even shorter once it's hung with some good sag. 11' is easily doable and it's a fine hammock to sleep in at home. I slept in an ENO Singlenest for many months at home.

I just finished this a few days ago:

    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ghlight=indoor

    Using this hammock:

    http://mayans.com/familiarsize.html

It's in an 11.5 foot span. The hammock itself is advertised as a bit over 13 feet long (I didn't measure it). It hangs at a comfortable angle, though I wouldn't go with a longer one.

With a eno and a span of 11 feet install your anchor points about 5 feet off the floor, should work good.

might want to investigate the use of 'whoopie slings' for maximum adjustability.
sounds like fun- (at 6' 145#, you sound plenty thin, so keep a fleece throw handy if the AC gets chilly.)
KM (who's 'mom gene' pops out every now and then.. sorry.)

ps- also think about going diagonally across the room for more space.

    will this work?

So the contractor doesnt like the idea of hanging from the walls so he is going to try to find the rafters through the ceiling.... im aware that this is more structurely sound but will i be able to acheive a comfortable hang from the rafters 10 1/2 feet apart? the ceiling is only about 8 feet high in this place because it is located right in front of three windows with a view

Since you have a contractor it sounds like your parents are willing to spend the money on it. I would consider building a free standing frame using dimensional lumber. The frame could have support across the ceiling to prevent this sides from pulling together under the weight of the hammock and keep you from tripping across bars on the floor. Of course aesthetic considerations come to mind.

the contractor is there because we are moving into this house that we bought then renovated so a contractor is needed. I just asked him while he was there working on the house. My parents arnt however thrilled with the idea and think a window seat will be nicer but i convinced them that that would end up as a place to dump stuff and the hammock would actually be used so they agreed only if our contractor says it will work well.
