Whats the biggest tree you've hung from

I ask that question because I'm in the early stages of planning a trip to the Sierras and on most of my hikes they're either above timberline or in lower elevation areas where the trees are absolutly huge. I can't imagine wrapping tree huggers around a six foot diameter tree, I'd have to bring a football field sized strap.

Do I need to re-think my backpacking locations to fit my hammocking or modify my hammocking to fit my locations.

Do they make tree huggers this big?

Neither. There are plenty of trees near even the pictured location that are hangagble. You simply choose your site from trees that aren't overwhelming.

Maybe just get the tree hugger up higher . . .

    . . . you know where the tree slims a bit . . .

I haven't hung from something that big but I do have a 15 foot long pair of tree huggers that are occasionally too short. I carry some extra rope to handle those situations.

I agree with the above...just bring some extra cord in case you have to improvise, but I've hung in Yosemite, Redwoods NP, and Big Sur lots of times with now problem. There are usually enough trees of the right size among the big ones.

Above timberline is a different story. Either bring climbing gear to hang with, or sleep on the ground.
