    Quick-Pitch Suspention System

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tREPb2h6pXo

The funny thing about that video. Is he never actually lay in the hammock. I also thought that his hammock was a bit too high from the ground.

Has anyone tried anything like this? Did it result in success, failure?

That is why when he sat down it dropped Sooooo much, that made a bigger difference in the drop than the stretch that he went to take out. If he had hung it properly it would not have droped the 2-3 feet lower when he sat down but would have just stretch the 6-8 inches from the nylon rope.

Not sure about using S biners on the ends. The friction of the rope around the tree will probably decrease the pull but those biners are not meant to take a lot of weight. I'm also not sure about the Figure 9 for supporting that much weight as well. It will work for him but I wouldn't have any long term confidence in them since I probably have 100lbs on the guy. Also, depending on what he is using, the teeth on the figure 9 could prematurely wear the cord. I imagine that it would not be very nice to lay in. As long as he is happy with it I guess that's what matters but I think he could modify it to be a bit safer and more comfortable.

That is exactly how not to hang a hammock. No hugger. Pulled way too tight and then tighter. And figure 9s will be hard on the rope.
