    Anybody Use This UQ Setup?

    I found this on youtube.

Not sure if it's a forum member's design or not. I like the idea that it looks easy to rig up and easy to change in the middle of the night if it starts out very warm but the temps drop a lot.

I'm going to be going on a trip in a few weeks and am starting to realize that I'll need some sort of UQ... my last trip was to a much warmer location and even then I had a cold butt. :-)

Yeah even in the summer it can get cool at night. MacIntyre's IX UQ is probably the least expensive option out there right now if you want to buy. A ccf pad can work but can be a PITA to keep it under you plus you may end up with cold shoulders.

looks pretty heavy to me and seems like it would do a poor job of conforming to your body. I think it would be warmer to just bring the pad into the hammock

if its car camping and its not going to be too cold it would probably work, but I am not sure i would take it backpacking or use it when expecting temps below 50

Not so sure how well that system will work out with a pad, but - the rigging system he used is pretty clever. Adjusting the snug'ness of the under-insulation from right above you is a neat idea. That's worth trying out, albeit with less hardware! Can do the same thing with a taut line hitch or a prussik knot.

    Thanks for posting.
