    Nice job on the diy sil -- just made a tarp of my own with the same design... very cool!
    All but one of the Wal Marts in my area still have the fabric dept.

    All but two of those has some ripstop in stock. I need to get on that before it all dissapears.

    yah, 10 yds isn't hard to use.... i put almost 9yds into the tarp alone... plus I'm making a few stuff sacks and a poncho. My bro also got in on this order and got 6yds.... in total here was the price breakdown:

    $3yd for 25yds == $75
    $5 cutting fee == $5
    shipping + tax == $20.92
    ************************
    total == $100.92 for 25 yds; shipped on a roll. arrived in 4 days.

    their material is "2nd" quality, but I have yet to find a single flaw in mine other than a *slight* line near the edge where it looks like there is a little extra sil (maybe the width of a sewing needle).

    best way is to call.... service is excellent and prompt over the phone, but a little slower via email (in my experience).

    Good luck, and enjoy

    Nice work Bryan! I like how you used the hose to test whether it is waterproof

    Which store did you get the fabric from and how much did you end up getting it for? As you know, I am looking for a tarp so maybe we can tag team on a kick *** tarp? I would much rather have a coach then go it myself and hope for the best.

    I got the fabric from Mill End, but I'm about to buy a bunch of sil from Noah Lamport if you want to go in with me.

    I learned a lot making this tarp and have got a few ideas for the next one. I figure we need another tarp or two for outfitting the crew.

    Mine was ~64" ... never measured exactly. On the phone he quoted me "Right about 64 inches wide"

    I ended up deciding that ultimately the pattern wouldn't change much with a 1 - 2 inch inaccuracy, as long as my measurements were all the same relative to the factory edges... so I didn't end up measuring.

    fwiw -- this stuff was good all the way from edge to edge (no flaws on the edges)... so you can make your seams as tight to the edge as your skill allows.
