I have used for my tarp Cubent, gorilla tape, some other tapes, glue with more C reinforcement , most everything except the dreaded needle. As WV has so elegantly posted use some sort of an insert to help distribute the pull. I have used 1/8 in carbon fiber tubing, ( I have also used some carbon fiber bar. 1/8 in X 7/16i) The gorilla glue works OK but the tape is black! & heavy.
I have some
one sided mylar tape 1 in wide, & I used that , a 4 in piece the tube and a 4 in piece of the tape, (see WV under cuben. to see how it is done), I could not break the tie!. I think it was the lightest of the cuben. The tape is clear and looks good. I would imagine using 2 , 1 in strips to make a 2 in. wide tie out would hold the proverbial elephant. Ah the cuben revolution grows apace. I like my cuben bridge and it is freeeeeky lite, but I am not sure it saves more than an oz or two over 1.5 rip, but it sure is fun to play with . and I can't sew worth a hoot. but I have a nice seamstress that works fast an reasonable! gnome
