    Hangin'....in my room!!!

That's right! I set up these hooks for a swing in my room and it works great to hang my blackbird. I took some pictures, but my phone isn't sending picture mail like it should. Dunno what's up with that, but as soon as I get some pics I'll post them for you guys to see!

It's nothing special really. The hooks I used for the walls are meant for hanging a swing outside, so all I did was mount them on studs in my room and PRESTO, swinging and hanging away in my room! So cool!

Awesome. Look forward to the pics! Just remember that dynamic load is greater than static load!

I'm not sure I know of a thread, but here's an easy way to think about it... Ever used or seen a tire swing on a tree? Have you notice that when people are just sitting on the swing the tree branch is still and only sags a little bit? Have you also noticed that when they start swinging the branch is going up and down and that the branch deflects much more at some points of the swinging motion that it does when they're just sitting? That's what I'm talking about. That peak load when swinging is higher than the load when you're just sitting in the hammock.

The link shows the kind of hook I used. It seems to allow you to swing back and forth with more give.

I'm assuming that you used something like that, but with a lag thread rather than a washer and nut. That said, the bushing would make it swing quietly and smoothly compared to just chain on a hook, but doesn't do anything to reduce force on the walls or force that can break the eyelets off the bolts...eye bolts are rated for forces pulling perpendicular to what they're screwed into.

It's probably safe, but I wouldn't go too crazy with the swinging.... A slight sway is all I'd do...

Treat your indoor hang with respect, no roughhousing!

Here's one side of it. It seems to hold pretty good. I don't sway much at all, and I definitely don't horseplay with my BLACKBIRD!! I don't even let my dog in that thing lol.
