I went with River up to visit Cannibal and on to Medicine Bow National forest and then the Encampment trail for a little hiking.
Got to love the accomidations in the Cannibal household. We were given more options but couldn't pass up the chance to hang with there boys. Rive got a kick out of waking up to Spike staring at her in the morning.
At our basecamp. We were going do a multiday hike. Had a last minute change in plans due to snow on the trails we wanted to do. The bugs were too crazy to hike down low.
More pics of the park in a thread I started asking for hike suggestions.
If anyone is ever in the area it is a great place to hike. We were there over the fourth and didn't see too many people. Very few on the trails away from the trailhead. Only 3.5 hours outside of Denver.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?
The hanger formly known as "hammock engineer".
I hung in my nano7 on the dock at a local lake on Friday night the 2nd, just laying there chilling out and drinking a beer, and watching my daughters fish. I did have a few people walk by and tell me that I had a great idea. I didn't sleep in it thought the skeeters were swarming allover.

DONATE TO THE GOAT ISLAND FIRE PIT FUND
I had to work on the 4th. But I just got out of the woods today from a trip in the Smokies. Sweet hammock time. But I also found out the Terra Nova Laser20L is not worth buying. Getting a refund.
I awoke on the 4th in my hammock. That day I finished hiking the Northville-Placid Trail. woot!
I camped in Groton State Forest and got to see fireworks two nights in a row over the lake. I don't have any photos of the hang though.
chickenwing, is that small kennel for your dog at night?
I set up my diy traveler style hammock and longed / napped while cooking BBQ all night Sat / Sun morning. Favorite part was lounging Sun morning listening to the birds, smelling the smoker cook and enjoying a really fantastic bloody mary.
Later every little kid in the neighborhood was swinging in it and having a blast.
I woke up 4th in my hammock, but I didn't do anything Sunday night besides some fireworks at home. Was the first time I've been out in too long though and I hope I can get out again soon.
oldgringo's reply to my worrying about owning extra hammocks:
How many pairs of underwear do you own? Do you refer to them as "extras", simply because you're not wearing all of them as we speak?
I slept in my hammock at ~10k feet on 3 and 4 July. Had one of the best campsites I've ever had on the 4th. Pics to come!
