I see (from the video) that the Gorge Rat Mischief had name tags, are we doing name tags as well? Methinks it is a good idea.

I agree. Simple though, no need for smart cards, retina scans etc....

It turns out that just like last year, I will be in Dallas Tues-Friday of this upcoming week and am free Thursday night if anyone wants to meet for dinner, happy hour, or coffee.

If so PM me and we can set a time and place. Otherwise, see you in a couple of weeks at Fairfield Lake.
I'm still open for Thursday night brief get together if anyone is interested. If so, PM me by mid-afternoon Thursday and we'll set a time and place.

I do plan to bring a tarp or two and at least one hammock that needs a new home. I am out of town now but when I get back home the packing begins. I am nearly certain I have Roz' hammock and will bring it. I also plan to bring some cookware, a few stoves, maybe some trekking poles, maybe a back pack or two, a dry bag for you water folk and at least one DIY gravity water filter. I plan to sell, trade, or just show and tell. It's all fun when playing with gear.

Looks like at least three of us agree on eliminating or at least reducing our identity crisis.

If this were the church camp I do, someone would cut 50 or so cross section slices of a 2-3 inch branch, drill two holes to run a string through each slice and we'd all decorate our own name tags.

Since I am not that "crafty" I'll try to remember tobring some stick on labels and a sharpie or two.

    Final countdown...

    Hey Guys and Gals,

Alan is right and the countdown is on!
    • The burn ban is off!
    • The weather forecast looks good! (Count on it changing, we're in Texas after all.)
    • Mike's beginning plans for feeding nearly 50 folks Saturday morning Breakfast and looking forward to whatever the Saturday evening Pot Luck feast provides. (We're on our own for all the rest.)
    • Gear's being fiddled with and packed for use, show and tell, or sale/trade
    • We're all reviewing previous posts to make sure all the questions are answered or getting ready to ask them in the next day or so.
    • We're reviewing park rules and fees so there are no surprises

Yep, it's just a few days until hammocks swarm into the trees of Fairfield State Park!

It's going to be a great time and there are still plenty of trees available. Check the list below to make sure we're on the same page for campsite reservations. If we're missing you, let me know. (I may add one more site to the 5 I have already reserved to allow 2 more cars without extra cost and to spread out just a bit.)

I'm stoked!!! Slept out back last night with my ghetto fabulous zip tied UQ system I was testing! Think there will be an award for the most rigged up hammock system??? I've got to be in the running on that one!!
