While he kill cause is still unkown, KAST believes it is a result of phytoplankton respiration that reduced oxygen levels and not a contaminent. Currently there are no fishing restrictions or eating restrictions on Fairfield.

Each site on the Springfield Loop has a water spigot. I'd say it's safe to drink.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

From what I heard last there was a massive fish kill due to the algae bloom. Was debating bringing my kayaks but may leave them at home with the kill and the weather forecast. Would probably enjoy a fire more than the boat so may use the trailer for bringing some wood since I think they don't allow gathering of wood.

Woke up this morning feeling under the weather so I'm hoping to kick this before the weekend.

Sorry Tarp I must have been blind when I was reviewing posts. I've corrected my last post with the "final" list. Glad you'll be there with us.

The second question is - what's the status of the recent fish kill? Are the fish safe to eat?
I have a new 4wt fly rod that wants to come with me
The water is fine, I've consumed tons with no ill effect. I can't speak for the fish but never worried since I never catch any.

Correct on the wood gathering. Not allowed in State Parks.

Hope you get to feeling better - I'm enjoying better living through chemistry myself. (Still got the tickle in the throat and cough but think I'll live.)

on the pot luck- do we need to bring food for 50, or will 8-10 do? I was thinking of a cool stuffed pumpkin recipe, but it won't serve 50 folks, unless I bring a -really- big pumpkin, and those take forever to cook in the coals..
