    Harpo,

This photo is from a couple of years ago, but I really love it.

What I like about these bikes is the ability to turn down pretty much any road. While they're not the best at anything, they are very darned good at most everything. They're able to pound out thousand-mile-plus days on the interstate (I've done it, but it's not my preferred method of gettin' someplace), and they can tackle some relatively technical terrain (though they can be a handful). They can give "sportier" bikes a surprise in the twisties, too.

They are heavy to pick up, though. (Again, these are from a couple of years ago.)

    gRaFFiX,
Yep, that's a great method, and it works well. The bike's still heavy, though.

We should probably shift the focus back to hammocks/hammock camping, though.

My issue with the bike is now sorted out, I have a lot of clean laundry and a full tank of fuel.

I'm heading west, looking for a place to hang tonight.

    Stay tuned ...

Simply a great ride report. How are you handling the food aspect?

    Ride safe.

Chris, what are you using to stay connected online on the road? laptop? netbook?

    Spklbuk, thanks for the comment.

On the food: When my wife was with me, we ate in restaurants (which is what we typically do at home). Since she went back home, I've been eating in restaurants of various types some and doing some simple cooking at my campsite some.

For supper last night, I cooked a can of soup.
Right now, I'm having shrimp with lobster sauce at a Chinese restaurant.

    Harpo,
For the quick checks and responses throughout the day (lile now ), I use my Motorola Droid. I know that some people gripe about Verizon, but the coverage is awesome. I first read your question this morning from way out in the desert (though it was along a road used to haul out whatever from the petroleum production out there).

I am doing the posts with pics from my little Acer computer, either on WiFi or through my Droid using PDANet.
