hot to make my own underquilt?

I have a sleeping bag rated down to -18C/0F and i pulled the zip off when i got trapped inside it one day. the manufacturer sent me a new one rather than repairing it.

That means i have a very high quality sleeping bag ready for scissoring!

There must be some UQ plans on this forum somewhere but im tired and blind.....

help me out folkes!!!

I know I've seen many more on the topic, those were just the first to appear when I searched on google for "sleeping bag underquilt".

From what I've read, it seems that you generally follow the same guidelines as you would when building one from scratch, but with a head start of sorts.

I made a 3/4 length summer UQ by pretty much sewing a rectangle to the right dimensions, cutting it out and attaching channels for the shock cord to run through.

If you want a better (arguably?) UQ, you'll have to incorporate darts for a differential cut. I chose the simpler method because I heard they require minimal adjustment for use with a stock HH (bottom entry), and ,well, it was simpler

Anyway, I hope that helps. I'm by no means an expert on anything, but have been reading these forums for a while and apparently picked something up along the way.
