Left or Right Foot Box Question

OK. I saw that Te-Wa offers UQ's with a choice between left or right lay and that got me to thinking. I know..what a surprise.

Anyway, when I sleep on my side it's generally on the left side. Would a left footbox be better for sleeping on my left side than the typical right footbox? Would my face be less likely to end up pressed against the side of the hammock or the mosquito net. And if a left footbox is better for a left side sleeper are there hammock sources (e.g., Warbonnet) that offers hammocks with a left foot box?

    Thanks all.

I would also like to see an answer/suggestion/opinion on this topic.

I guess preference on how you normally sleep (right, left side) might dictate to what side your feet will hang to. I prefer sleeping with my head on the right side of the diagonal from centerline with my feet to the left.

yes, but is it more comfy to sleep that way on your left or right side?

Liv2ride, you read my mind! I was wondering the same thing because I like to SWITCH directions when I change sides. In other words, I sleep feet on the left side when I'm laying on my right side but feet on the RIGHT side when I'm laying on my left. (Does that make any sense?) I want to face OUTWARD not INWARD. If I face inward, I'm looking a big wall of hammock fabric!! If I face outward, I look through my bug net and the big wall of hammock fabric is behind me.

That got me to thinking about TWO footboxes on my next DIY hammock. Has anyone ever done this? Besides adding weight, is there a downside to this idea? My current hang has no footbox at all and I'm perfectly happy with it. But reading about the underquilts and hammocks with one foot box made me start wondering if I'd be willing to give up the flexibility I have now.

How 'bout it, folks? Anyone ever make a hammock with two footboxes?

That does seem a little odd to me. When I lay in my hammock on the diagonal the whole hammock opens up. There's a slight raise in the centerline but not so much that it's in my face if I'm facing inward. With my HH Explorer the ASYM cut kinda requires you to lay feet to the right and head to the left. I sleep on my left side in my bed but in my HH I had to sleep on my right side so I didn't have fabric in my face.

I don't see why you couldn't try it. Of the patterns I've seen on here it's just a triangle of fabric. Just put one on each side and see what happens. You might have to make your hammock rectangle a little longer, though, to compensate.

So based on what I hear you saying do you think that if you were in a hammock with a leftside footbox you would be more comfortable since it closer to your usual sleep position (left shoulder sleeper)?

Yes, that's exactly what I have wondered. I'm thinking about getting a WBBB. I've thought about asking Brandon if he can do a "mirrored" BB. but that'll have to wait until he's back from his hiatus.

i have 2 lefty BB's. I tend to sleep on my right side, and my back. i cannot easily sleep on my left side, due to a deviated septum. (my nose gets all clogged, then i snore)
b/c i sleep on my right side, i like a left side footbox.

brandon had no problem making a "mirror" for me. ask him, he is a nice guy.

btw, for every 10 uq's i sell, only one is a "lefty"
