    Traveler Suspension Question

My new traveler arrived recently, and when I tried to hang it I got a surprise...

The line leading off of the hammock is amsteel, and although the hammock comes with tree-huggers, each one had only a single triangle thingee on the end (as opposed to 2 on each, as I've seen before)...can any of you help me with hanging this...I assume that I just don't get it.

    Thanks,

    Jamie - nfa

It sounds like you got the first suspension option which is talked about in this video.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWlM0pROnpU

When you order a hammock from WB, you have two options for suspension via a drop down menu. However since the site is shut down at this time, I can't show you the drop down I was talking about.

If you find that you really want the buckle system, I bet you could contact Brandon and he may be able to switch them out for you, or you could buy some at AHE.

you can hook a carabiner to the sewn eye on the webbing, and attach that to the tree. -
leaving the remainder of the strap with triangle ring hanging.

then run your amsteel from the hammock up through the single triangle ring,
and back down towards the hammock-- finish with your favorite knot.

check brandon's videos or see grizz's suspension vids.

    hope it helps
    happy hanging

Jamie, this video shows both types of suspension for WB hammocks. Hope it is some help.

PS- Which hammock are you bringing to the trip? It would be cool to compare the Black Bird to the Traveler in person.

Brandon suggests tying the cord to the triangle using a slipped buntline hitch. As Niloc said you got the other suspension. Its fine if you don't mind tying knots.

You might be able to take some load off the slipped buntline and make it easier to undo by taking an extra turn around the triangle before tying the hitch.
