Do any of you store your tarp in skins at home (dry of course) or do you leave it out to breath so to say?

Leave it stuffed (or rolled, as the case may be). No harm in storing it that way.
Down-filled quilts are the items that should be stored loosely.

Thanks I store my down sleeping bag that way, but wasn't sure about tarps. I know a lot of tent companies say not to leave tents stored in stuff sacks. Wondered if the same applied.

I leave mine in skins too. Sure, the tarp is wrinkled when you go to set it up, but that goes away pretty quick.
I'm with the leave 'em in crowd. It's easy and they're always ready to go.

My tarp been in the skins for a good 2 years now. I see no problems. Of course, after use on a trip, I always make sure both tarp and skins are bone dry before any storage longer than a couple of days.
Thanks, I just got a set and just wasn't sure about storing them in the skins. I think the it looks like most store in the skins

Question for you folks that do this: Is that the standard issue tarp? I have had a HH exped for years now, and am just getting skins for it this week. I use a Madcat Deluxe tarp though, as I have experienced some rain issues in the past-and, I like posting it out like a porch, to sit under. Will the skins fit with an after market tarp? I know I will find out when I get the skins next week, but, was just curious.
I leave my tarp stored in the skins too. No problems.
Oldsoldier, I used my 11 x 10 JRB tarp with #3 snakeskins for a long time, but it took a little longer to stuff it. I switched to larger skins and it's faster to stuff because I'm not having to use my thumbs as much to stuff it into the final part of skins. It just slides on quicker. So my final answer is yes -- probably. But you may want to switch to larger skins down the road if you like the technique.

While it may be redundent (sp?) I tie my tarp up with two velcro cable ties then slip the skins over, real easy.
