vgnbkr - Where did you encounter the Warden that threatened the fine? Was it at the registration desk or in park?
Sorry for taking so long to get back on this.

I talked to the Superintendant of Algonquin Park today. He said that as long as people are being reasonable (3 tents, plus 3 hammocks, plus cooking tent would be unreasonable) he sees no reason why hammocks should be counted as shelters towards the limit. He said that he would have the northern administrator (I can't remember his actual title) inform the rangers that hammocks do not count towards the shelter limit.

    Great news ...

    Space for one more?

Is there space for 1 more for the hang on the 20th? If so, I'll be there.

I'd prefer to carpool rather than drive up alone. I can drive, or be a passenger. I'm in Mississauga.

Is there a plan to meet up at the trailhead and hike in, or will we just meet at the sites?

    Woot, one week away!

I was going to bring my MSR whisperlite for some sweet sweet water boiling action. If anyone else is going to want to use it please let me know so I can bring enough fuel.

There is space for one more. That makes 9 confirmed and 1 tentative.

As for car pooling just go through the thread and see if you can find anyone in your general area to meet up with. Jefftrex is in Mississauga, if I recall correctly. Shoot him a PM and work something out.

There is no current plan to meet at the trail head. It completely depends on when people are likely to arrive due to work and travel schedules.

    Cheers

If you can make it for certain, then there is room for 1 more. If Odds shows up that will make for a full house. I would think any more beyond this point would require someone to book another site. I don't know how likely that is at this point with the hang 5 days away.

I will send out information tomorrow to those that have confirmed and give them the site information. Not to be overly secretive but there is a max number of people per site and I wouldn't want anyone to drive all the way out there to find out that the sites are full and be turned away.

    Cheers

What time is everyone planning to arrive at the trailhead? Has anyone of us ever hiked this trail before?

I would think that with all of the hot and humid weather this year compared to the rain fest we got last summer, mosquitoes and bugs should not be much of a problem. I have a thermacell and bug spray in my pack at any rate.

I plan to be there around noon on Friday. If I know anyone else is planning to be there at the same time, I will wait around a bit so we can hike in together.

    Cheers
