    Permanent setup...army jungle hammock?

Im looking to set up something more permanent behind the house to where I dont have to worry about critters, kids, thieves, or bad weather tearing up my otherwise more expensive backpack hammock setup. So Im thinking about getting one of those heavy duty army surplus mosquito jungle hammocks to use. Not having tried one out, I was wondering how comfortable they are and what they might be comparable to with the hammocks featured on this forum. anyone got comments?
    thanx, bill

I had one years ago (first hammock) and was underwhelmed. The zipper and material around it started failing the first weekend I used it (that was probably partly because I was hanging it wrong - way too tight).

Why not just make one from walmart 2nds.

4 yards of ripstop and seam it, add the suspension and some netting from walmart.
If you want it heavy duty double layer.

I just picked up 8 yards of digital camo ripstop the other day.

That will cost about $6 for a single layer just for the ripstop.

Look at Sportsman Guide,You'll need to add a spreader bar add a good pad.I had put 1/4 ply in it.Bottom line is it isn't comfortable from the box but cheap.
