    Ohio hangers Untie trip report.

Yep, I spelled it "UNTIE" not Unite.

I can honestly say that everyone that showed up on Thursday had a rocking good time! We all got to the trailhead at 1500 (3:00 PM) & said "Thanks!" to the trail maintainers as they left the trail. Headed up a nicely graded, very well (& freshly) maintained trail. At around 1700 we got to camp "C" & said "HEY" to the two groundlings already there. Fixed dinner & posed for a group photo that I'll attach as soon as I figure it out.
The next morning (Friday) got up & hung around for a while just doing nothing, that was kind of a mistake as it had been raining since around 0800 & that would have been cooler weather to hike in, oh well! Had a great, but VERY HOT hike to campsite D, again on well maintained trail. We passed quite a few historic places, all well marked on the map with numbered markers on the trail. Very interesting as everyone in the group is very interested in history. Even got to see a native American ceremonial pit, way cool.
Campsite D is very nice (C is no slouch either!) with a water tank as the water source & a well maintained Privy similar to the one at "C", but the largest area, also furthest from the trail, is a GREAT place to have a communal get together. Both sites have enough hanging sites for 40 - 50 hangers.
This morning (Sat) for whatever reason, we all decided to hit the trail early, , oh yea, "To beat the heat". Due to the heat & vicious gnats, it was decided to call it quits. When we stopped for water back at "C" Met with some groundlings, during the conversation I showed them my hammock set up, they were way impressed.
Took a leisurely stroll on the gravel road back to the car & decided to drive back & see if the groundlings needed a ride, I am so glad I did, I had left my Dutch clips & straps behind after the demonstration. I would not have noticed until I got home that they were missing. Thankfully, they grabbed them for me!!

All in all it was a GREAT hike, even in spite of the heat & humidity.

Critters seen & killed (as often as I could): Gnats, Mosquitoes, Horse flies.
Critters seen & not killed: 1 Pheasant, 3 Bull frogs, countless turkey vultures, 1 rabbit & a bird that looked like a Goldfinch, but was bright ORANGE not yellow.
Critters heard: 1 Palliated woodpecker, 1 Whippoorwill.

HF members at the hangout: Doctari.

You all missed a great hike.

Forgot to mention: we all went swimming after getting back to the car. In one of the cleanest lakes I have ever seen. WOW, I could see my feet with the water at my waist!!! For me, that is incredible!

That describes either very clear water or a terrible injury.

Nice report thanks for sharing. But I am wondering if it happened as I see no pictures!

Yep, they are still in the camera. I'm not very good at posting pics, but will get youngest son to see what he can do with them tomorrow.

I think the group photo turned out great, everyone was Fantastic looking. AND, this is the first hangout where everyone was wearing a kilt. What are the odds of that happening?

    GREAT!

Well, I shot my first video Friday, just now looked at it. SIGH! I know better, but set the camera up without my reading glasses, it was still zoomed IN from a previous close up pic I took, All you could see during my intro was my eyes, nose, mouth & chin,,,, Creepy!
AND, I still don't have the hang of where to hold the stic pic when walking behind me, so I had a good view of the trail at my feet.

I'll get it eventually, but it was quite a shock that I screwed up so badly this time.

I had planned on going to this hang, but when everyone backed out of it I didn't go. I'm glad I didn't. I can't stand being outside in a really hot muggy day. After I had made the decision to cancel myself I saw Doctari's post that he was going. I just couldn't make myself do it. *sigh* I'm looking forward to fall weather.
Proving to the world that I can hang.

Good scouting report Doctari. Sorry you had to go it alone. Capacity for 50 hangers at two camps sounds ideal. I agree with OB, hate hot muggy weather is not for me. +1 for spring or weather that is in low 80's at least during the day, 50's at night. Been camping as a groundweller at Shawnee with a heavy pack. Would like to try it High N Light.
