    Claytor Tarp

Ok guys I think I have the newb question of the week. I have the Claytor Diamond Rain Fly. However I don't know which way to pitch it. The dimensions are 13x10. I have tried it both ways and it seems to work either way. Also I wanted to say thank you all opening my eyes to hammock camping. I have learned tons on this site already.

Welcome to hammock forums amilykovic. I have used mine both ways too but I prefer to pitch it with the long side going with my hammock. When I hang from trees at a shorter distance I will use it the other way. I have no real idea if my way is correct but its what I do b/c if makes sense to me. Hope this helps.

That sounds about right to me. With a hex or diamond cut tarp, compared to a rectangle, it is helpful to have a longer tarp ridgeline to get some extra coverage on the ends, where things are extra likely to get wet. But if you are stuck with closer together trees, no reason not to turn it around, as long as your hammock is still covered well enough on the ends.
