The second option works much better for me. Oct 22-24.

Okay, sounds like we have critical mass for October 22-24. Let's use this date.
October 22 - 24 works for me!
+1 maybe 2 for October 22 - 24
Sounds good, Planning on 22-24. Looked at the trail guides, just did not actually open and read. Will study to night on where the Maxwell #37 goes in. Does this qualify as a hijacked thread.
The Older I get, the Faster I use to be.
I am glad that things finally came together for an Arizona Fall Hang and that you will be joining the folks from Arizona while you are in town.
Strictly speaking, you are probably right about the thread. But, Dejoha was very generous in allowing the discussion to develop from his original post. He deserves our thanks.
Just for the record, the final consensus is that The Arizona Fall Hang will occur via the Maxwell Trail into West Clear Creek on October 22nd - 24th. The posts by Tewa and Dejoha provide good detail on the route and location.
I hope that everyone that is interested will continue to indicate their plans to attend by posting within this thread.
When we get closer to the appointed time; perhaps we can get a head count and finalize any necessary logistics.
In the meantime, I am going to get my gear in order. Maybe its time for some new purchases.
There are petroglyphs near by and some of the side canyons have water falls in wet times. Also some cool hang areas 200' up on grass and tree ledges.

ok, some beta for those who have not been there.
if traveling north on the Beeline Hwy 87, you will come to fh 3 (lake mary rd) and take a left. in just over 7 miles, turn left onto fr 81. you will see a couple of splits in the road and there are about 2 major forks, both signed. one goes to tramway trail, the other maxwell. stay to the left for fr 81E and travel in a medium clearance vehicle to the end.
once on the trail, you decent in a rabid pace about 700 feet in less than 3/4 of a mile. at the creekbed, take a RIGHT and travel downstream a 1/5 of a mile to a nice campsite on creek left, on a bend in the creek.
along the drive in you should have plenty of traffic due to hunting seasons. but in the canyon, you may only see a couple of people. convert them to hanging immediately.
I just got final approval from the XYL for the October trip. I'll most likely be bringing some of my harmonics along. The semi-official count so far:
dejoha + 2
tewa
longbow
gnome77
smashtorrent
roadtorque
lowclass
quad&boatcamper
Anyone else? Please come now...
Just a bump to remind the folks of this upcoming hang.
