    Lake Tyler Campout Quicky

This was a spur of the moment trip but my girl wanted to go camping so off we went, who I'm I to say no to really get to try out my hammock.hehehe.
A little weather info to set the stage, arrived at 2pm SAT 96* THI 110* got a great spot lots of big trees close to the lake on a small hill, a nice lake breeze. We clean up the camp area ( teaching her LNT)setup camp, cook a late lunch, and this is where I should change to CRITTER report instead of trip report, as we are eating we are being watch without our knowing, while my girl is changing for swimming I stretch out in my hammock purely for testing purposes.lol I here a chirping sound no bird or squirrel but a raccoon sitting on a tree limb about 8' above my feet just looking at me, all I could think of was a post on here about the squirrel that ran down the tree across the ridgeline an back up. oh**** luckily I got a pic , this would not be the last encounter... got up secured the food and went swimming. At the swim area we got to see another strange critter there also it was one of those pacific paddle surfers Tried to get a pic but he was down on his knees by then very cool guy to talk to, he said that paddle surfing used every muscle you have and then some without moving, anyway after a couple of hours we went back to camp, check around no coon, started dinner, ate, cleaning up i take the the trash over to the can an who should pop up? yep U guessed it. We played card games until about 11 then turned in for the night, then the fun started, ok during the evening i raise my hammock up since our friend was scurrying around about 2.5' well about 2 am all h*** broke loose.. WWE coon verses possum.. under my hammock,I grab my headlamp,, nothing but teeth, everywhere teeth ,growls, hissing, barking oh my, I grab my hiking pole and slap the tree, and they break for cover, sorta, the coon stayed close by, I got my spot light and looked around an yep still here w/3 babies an momma close by. they finally wondered off . In the morning my daughter wakes me up to see 9 deer gazing along the road. like I said Critter reportall in all we had a great camp-out seen a lot of critters5 coons 1 possum 9 deer an 1 paddlesurfer and found a Kershaw OD1 during clean up at beach area.. Heres some pic, I gotta get a new camera.

Hey Shug, yep it was Hot! the lake an breeze made it bearable but the coon made it perfect. The coon grill shot was a complete suprise, I didn't realize it until uploaded,I was really expecting some comments about Texas Bar BQ or animal abuse on that one I know this wasn't much of a trip report but I don't live in them Exotic placses like you all do, so I take what I can get.

Nice critter/trip report! Are you going to make it to the Texas hang when the weather finally cools off a bit this fall?

nice report. but you're right...if you camp, you gotta have a fire, you know it helps with bugs.

Great report. Coon pix are usually difficult -- this big guy was apparently in no mood to skip your camp chow.
