    New Hammock for Short Woman

    Hi All,
I'm after a new hammock for my partner, Annette. She has been using a homemade Speer type hammock (2.8m of ripstop, ends whipped).
She'd like to something a bit longer, as she found my 3m length hammocks much more comfortable, though she's only 5 foot tall.

The budget is $120. We've been browsing Grand Trunk, Eno etc even Warbonnet, but Brandon is away.

She liked the enclosed tent like nature of my hennessy, but $120 sort of puts that out of the question.

    Any ideas?

    thanks in advance.

I just sold a like-new Hennessy, tarp, webbing and everything for less than that. Look in the for-sale section or EBay.

I'm 5 foot and love my Clark, course the cost of it is way above your set price. I got to try out a Blackbird Warbonnet and I felt like I was in a huge hanging tent, did I mention it's huge?!! I like the closeness of my Clark better. So if she's looking for a larger hammock, the Clark may not be the one she's needing anyways. Maybe look at the Trek Light double hammock and bugnetting.

or look into the DIY and see if you can make a double hammock.

Grand Trunk's Skeeter Beeter falls into that range I believe. The tarp could add to the cost but if you already have a tarp for the DIY thing you should be in good shape. Very serviceable hammock and ideal for the shorter hanger.

You might also check the HH Scout as I have heard good things about it for a shorted hanger.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

My gf is 4'11" and has an HH Scout. It works well for her. It took me a couple tries to get it hung right, though. I was doing it in the dark and didn't get it hung tight enough to pull the ridgline taught. Once that was done she really liked it. This is where we got it from:

Much cheaper than the HH site. You have to buy your snakeskins seperately, but it's still cheaper.

Get a Byer Moskito, remove the nylon strings at the ends, and run whoopie slings through the end channels. You end up with an inexpensive ultralight netted hammock with a zipper entry that is sized just right for 5' tall people.

I have a GrandTrunk Ultralight w/whoopie slings I would part with for a reasonable offer if you're interested.
It's the forrest green color and I removed the stuff sack because I didn't want it attached for use inside a bug net (it was unnecessary for storage because I used snake skins, but I will include it with the hammock).
