    Hanging from park shelters

Anyone with experience in this? When faced with no trees, like on the coast, and an open man-made shelter with wooden 4x4 posts a reasonable distance apart, how would one go about rigging tree huggers without them slipping? Also, what about hanging in a screened shelter? Neither of these would be my first choice, but if left without other options seems one could manage such that one would not have to go to ground.
    Thanks,
    Leigh

I hung off of 4x4's once. I just wrapped my Tree Huggers around the post a couple of times and it held. No guarantee, but it worked for me.

Yep, the friction will hold your tree huggers without much of a problem. I've tied around many, many, many smooth surfaces and have yet to have a problem. I'd be more worried about law enforcement thinking you are going to bring the shelter down on top of yourself.

My outdoor stand was vertical 4x4's No sweat with the holding. Many municipal and some state areas close at sundown so you might leave yourself open to a trespassing charge. But that's another question.

There was a thunderstorm coming so I slept under the picnic shelter at Blackburn Trail Center. The supports are larger than 4x4, but I cheated and put the straps above the diagonal supports so they couldn't slip. It didn't seem like they wanted to slip anyway and it was a great night's sleep.

We hung in 2 different shelters in NC on the AT, no problem. No one was in the 1st one. The 2nd one, 2 hikers showed up and we asked them if the hammocks bothered them? They said no problem and asked a lot of questions about our setups. The reason we hung in the shelters was due to some nasty thunderstorms and not wanting to deal w/a wet tarp in the morning.
