I received my enLIGHTened equipment cuben fiber full sized UQ and installed it on my Hennessey hammock. I ordered the 2" loft version. I weighs 12.9 oz, plus I added another 1 oz. for the suspension for a total of 13.9 oz. The fill is 800 fill down. Size is 76" X 44". Cost was $430 with 2" loft & the optional breatability strip.

I purchased the cuben fiber UQ because I wanted a full sized UQ, but wanted it as light as possible.

The workmanship looks very good. The quilt has the optional breathability stripe centered under the quilt. Tim will put the strip wherever you want. I figure in cold weather I'll try flipping the quilt over so the windproof cuben fiber prevents a cold spot there.

The cuben fiber construction makes the quilt fairly weather resistant too.

I had some additional tieout tabs installed so I could use mini-carabiners to clip it at the Hennessey's asym. tieout points. There's also tie out tabs halfway down the length in case I needed an over the ridgeline shockcord to hold it in place.

It turned out that I didn't need the center tieout tabs. The head and foot tieout tabs that line up with the Hennessey’s tieout points are on both sides of the quilt so I can flip the quilt upside down if I wanted to.

Won't the vapor barrier aspect of cuben have some issues with getting clammy?

It's been Summer weather, nights in the 60's or higher since I got the UQ, so the UQ has been hanging slack with an air gap under my hammock. However, I have a Stephenson Warmlite bag with built in vapor barrier too. I never had a comfort problem. In fact the Warmlite's warmth is amazing. I'm a cool sleeper, and I've used the summer top at 25-30 degrees. At that temperature I can sleep in nothing but undershorts and have to keep it unzipped so I don't sweat!

Yes there can be some sensation of feeling damp at times. This is easily controlled by adjusting ventilation and by wearing less clothing than you might think you need.

I have'nt yet used the quilt in weather where it will be pulled up close for warmth but I'm familiar with the vapor barrier concept. I think it's one of those personal decisions. A vapor barrier is one way to gain extra warmth, and not everyone will think it's the best decision.

I had formerly been using a Hennessey Super Shelter with the recommended "space blanket" which acted as a vapor barrier exactly the same way the cuben quilt will.

Also, don't forget that we're talking about an underquilt. Think about sleeping in your bed at home. no matter how hot it is, you still have all that insulation under you. You also may have a vapor barrier, such as memory foam, or a plastic air or water filled mattress. (Do people still buy water beds?) You compensate for this insulation/vapor barrier under you by regulating your top covering (Think top quilt)

Does it actually conform to a hammock bottom, or is it just a rectangle of plastic with some down stuffed in it?

I just don't care for cuben. I don't like it's appearance, texture, or other characteristics. Would rather just carry an extra pound or two in my setup to not have to deal with any cuben.
