    Jay,

If you will be hammocking in a dry part of Australia, the Hennessy standard tarps might be fine. There's not much to them though.

I can't wait to get my JRB Bear Mountain Bridge. I was daydreaming about them the other day, while getting frustrated about a few things when I was laying in my Hennessy.

I am in North Queensland so you can gather it is pretty warm up here all year. If you are new to hammocking you may not appreciate how cold hammocks are by comparison to sleeping mats on the ground.

Even with the relatively balmy weather we get up here, in anything other than high summer I am cool to cold where I lay against the hammock.

I subsequently bought an undercover and underpad for my Hennessy, and that has been a good solution. (But I am now looking at testing a DIY bridge hammock before committing to the BMBH).

I say all this to suggest that you order some sort of undercover/quilt arrangement at the time you buy your hammock. Tarps are easy to make from stuff presently available in Australia, undercovers/underquilt are less so. As far as I can tell, the Hennessy importers have not been bringing the supershelters into Oz. So you will have to buy from overseas.

    cheers, Tony

    slowhike,
thanks for the welcome. I must say that after wading through every page and calculation in the Bridge Hammock thread, I feel like an old hand!

Great forum, and thanks for your work on it. Cheers, Tony

Excellent. Are you ready for the bridge hammock certification exam now?
Reminder you are allowed one 8.5' x 11' crib sheet one which you can jot down any notes you like (and yes, that's ' and not ". There's a lot to know!)

    p.s. seriously, welcome.

Do you mean 8.5" x 11" ? If not, that crib sheet is bigger than the hammock itself!
