Its too late at night to be doing math, but it is what it is

I'll be pitching on the diagonal, so...

    Pythagorus says:

    A^2 + B^2 = C^2 (sorry, no square key on my iPhone)

    SO, (10)(10) + (10)(10) = 200

Sq. Rt. of 200 is 14 and a little change. Figure the sag will take another foot at least, and I should be dry If not, I'll just have to add some material.

    Ugh. More math.

    12' hammock = 144"

    Average sag is 83%

    (144 X 83) / 100 = 119.52

    119.52 / 12 = 9.96 or 10'

Made in the shade, errrr, dry and shady

Thanks for listening to me think out loud gang!

Who says this is an addiction. More like an obsession

Haha, I just want to get it right the first time

Do not go to Joannes without a 40% off coupon they are easy to come by with a quick google. Will save you over the regular 6.99 price of their ripstop. Also while you are ther pick up one of these for making your whoopies.
My knife is so sharp it cut the sixth finger off my right hand! On the plus side, Inigo Montoya no longer hunts me.

Thanks for the tip. I was going to get some leader line but that looks like it would work pretty well too.

Hey Shore - We are taking materials orders, just not able to sell finished tarps yet, that's all. Sorry for any confusion. Don't hesitate with any questions if you decide to order anything.

I think I'm going to end up with a 12' to start, I figure if it's too long I can always take a bit off. My biggest concern is that I might have to increase the size of my tarp if I make the hammock that long.

I'm not into the UL thing (at least not right now) so comfort is the main goal

I'm thinking about hitting up the Joanne Fabric in Cool Springs next week, I'll let you know if they have anything good.
There's a trick to beating the heat. Work on/near the coast where it is closer to 100F with high enough humidity to soak your clothes and then come home and camp out. That means it has cooled off 10F or so. it works even better if you are near the MS River since that drives the humidity even more.

Let me know what you find at Joanne's. I may have to check that place out.

Wow! A bunch of TN boys here. Being in Memphis, I can attest to the MS river making the humidity unbearable. You sweat even in the A/C.

I wanted to thank Shore for posting the links. Being a newcomer, I could *kinda* figure out what everyone takes for granted (what's nysil, amsteel, etc), but having an actual "buy me" description makes it a bit easier to picture exactly.

Glad I could help out man. That's part of why I did it. I am totally new to this too and wanted to make sure I didn't mss anything.
