I don't know if anyone has ever tried them, but I was wondering if the Off Clip-On repellants could be used hanging under a tarp?

Well I have one and used it in the gorge about a year ago and found it was really effective. Little on the bulky side and a bit heavy but as long as the wind is calm it appears to work sitting. Not so much while hiking.

i've used them before and they work pretty good...i don't see why they can't be used under a tarp.. they have no heat source or anything like that.

I used one in an un-bugnetted BMBH under a tarp hung high last week end while canoing the upper James in Virginia... two nights no bugs.

Basic unit 4.2 oz 4 refills, still under 4.5 oz... Lighter than a bug net...less cost too... Hmmmmmmm

Has a fan and a AA battery ... the pack is liquid in a small vial and just open it up, put it in the unit and turn it on. Not much smell that I can detect ... but seems to work if you're stationary. Not so much while your moving. Guess it needs to form that cloud around you.

NCP,

Yup.... small unit with a fan in it and two AA batteries... Open the top and insert a Fill disc... close and turn on switch.... Blows air with stuff out the bottom... Sets up a micro clime after a few moments.
