    Clark is one tough hammock!!

    Clark is one tough hammock!!
As some of you may or May not know, I recently received on E-Bay a used Clark N.A. Hammock for 150 bucks. I have had it out a few times, and really enjoyed it. This weekend ( I just got back an hour ago), I had it set up near the Little Pine State Park near Waterville, Pa. at a friend’s property along the Little Pine Creek.

    http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/statepar...ittlepine.aspx

Friday night went very well with a beautiful view as I was set up right at the creek.( Sorry I didn’t have pictures for you, I need a camera, mine broke, and the misses won’t allow our good one to go out into the woods) Anyways: Saturday evening had radio broadcast coming across my radio about Tornado warnings just North of me ( about 50 miles North), and severe T.S. warnings for my area.
As soon as that wind started to pick up, I changed the pitch of the N.A. tarp (it has the std. size tarp), and I reset my stakes and my JRB Self Tensioning Lines (STLs). I climbed in making sure I had grabbed what I needed. My water bottle filled up, my book, my head lamp hanging on the ridge line, and my radio. Not wanting to take any chances, I then zipped my N.A. Hammock weather shield shut.
Then bam, that storm really hit!! 50 MPH gust, torrential guest driven down pours, and plenty of thunder and lighting. I sailed (literally) through that storm with the high winds bucking me dry and comfortable. (also hats off to the JRB tri-Glides and straps, and to mother Nature for strong trees) Storm or no storm, I still managed to read 4 chapters of my book—“Water for Elephants” by Sara Gruen.
The only issue I noticed after the storm was over later that evening was a little bit of water that somehow found its way into a couple of the pockets under the hammock. However, there was no harm done, and I believe a North American XL tarp would solve that issue.
What a tough hammock!! And from what information I received from the previous owner is that my hammock has thru-Hiked the A.T., and has been across Central America twice. This Hammock is still going strong. I will probably eventually unload it for a new NX 250 model, just to upgrade, but I know this used N.A. Hammock will still probably outlive me!!

good review and glad you had such a lovely storm to read your book in!!!

I don't know if the XL rain fly would give you much better coverage than the reg tarp. I've got the XL on my Tropical and rain has managed to splash on my under quilt during really hard rain storms. Course my problem probably is user error!!!

Sounds like my kinda action . . .

I spent many a stormy nights in small and large sail boats,
under way as well as at the hook and at the slip.

    Interesting storm story!

I had wind-blown mist soak me earlier this year in my HH in the middle of a mayure forest, and that is one reason I ordered a NX-250. Of course, I had the fly set high for ventilation in 90 deg weather.

Another good read about the Nahanni River: Dangerous River (Patterson).
