Wondering if anyone with a sewing machine would like to sell me a 120" x 65" piece of nylon with hemmed and sewn edges. I'd just order some nylon myself, but I have no sewing machine nor do I have access to one. Either 1.7 or if you're feeling frisky, a double layer of 1.1 would be fine.

That's called a Warbonnet Traveler and if you're not in a hurry can be had for $60 for a single layer with a choice of suspension.

Thanks, Brian! That's the exact reason I chose those dimensions. I'd like to do one DIY, but since I don't have a sewing machine, I was just wondering if anyone would mind doing just that step for me so that I could do the whipping, suspension, etc.

Have you considered sourcing the fabric yourself and having a local sewing shop do it up for you? Backwoods Daydreamer has a selection of DIY fabrics for around $3/yd.

I agree. I ordered the green ripstop seconds from Backwoods Daydreamer for an underquilt. The gray lines are there but are kind of hard to see. I would contact a local seamstress shop or a sewing machine shop and see if they will run a rolled seam around the material for you. They might laugh at the ease of the job, but it will get you what you need. Another option would be to PM one of the Hammock Forums vendors and ask if they will do the hem for you as well.

I would prefer to just order the fabric and take it to a seamster, but I'm in Yellowstone NP for the next few months, so I would have to drive a few hours to a town to try to find one. That's why I was wondering if anyone would be willing to do so. But good point! I'll email some vendors to see if anyone would be willing to do some simple stitch work before shipping it out to me.

I'd suggest contacting Pgibson or thorwren; both known and respected sewers, already set up for custom biz....(I'd volunteer myself, but the sewing room is currently hiding under the stuff I moved out of the guest room... long story.) KM (trying to be helpful!)

I know that the fabric shop nearby, and there aren't too many left, does sewing as well. I would think that if you bought what you needed from your local fabric store and then explained what you needed done they might be able to accommodate you. Shop your local fabric stores. They are a valuable resource that is getting pushed aside in the 21st century.
