“Our ordinary mind always tries to persuade us that we are nothing but acorns and that our greatest happiness will be to become bigger, fatter, shinier acorns; but that is of interest only to pigs. Our faith gives us knowledge of something better: that we can become oak trees.”
E. F. Schumacher
I think I covered everything here except shipping and thread. Some of this stuff I bought I still have extra material left or is used in some other part of my packing list.
Tarp:
Cuben Fiber -----------6 yards @ $26 per yard --------$156 --- Zpacks.com ---(I actually bought more but this would do ya)
Yellow 1.25mm line ----50' roll ------------------------$11.95 --Zpacks.com
Black 1.25mm line -----50' roll ------------------------$11.95 --Zpacks.com
Drawstring ------------2 yards @ $0.25 per yard ------$0.50 ---Zpacks.com
Mini Cord locks --------package of 5 $1.75 per pack ---$1.75 ---Zpacks.com

Hammock Suspension:
Tree huggers --------Highland 10' x 1" ratchet strap ---$9.99---Auto Zone---I cut the long one of these straps in half and then sew loops on one end.
Toggles--------------1 youth aluminum arrow----------$3.00--****'s--------I think that was the right price.
Total-------------------------------------------------$296.58
All that listed above worked into other parts too. Like the 1.25mm line was used for the ridge-line for the hammock as well as the tarp lines and tarp ridge-line. The drawstring was used on the stuff sacks and I'mm getting some more for the bug net. I don't think I forgot anything.

umm, suspension system? or reusing one you already had?
cheaper than I would have thought with that much cuben involved!
And thanks very much!

Suspension is Dynaglide UCRs attached to Ratchet straps - something I had made to work with the Nano7 when playing around with that. I'll add that info into the price.
Speak of the Nano7. If one wanted to forgo making the hammock, that would be an option.
Hey on the arrow toggles... I was at Dicks (the one in Knoxville) and asked them to cut up an arrow for toggles and the lady working said "wait right here".... She ran back where the cutter was and brought back a handful of arrow ends and gave them to me for free.
Rather than buying one, just ask next time. you might get lucky
Sarge, I am mightily impressed with your setup. You really haven't compromised on comfort or weather coverage. It is the bug net that has me most interested at this point... I've just been using a head net to save some weight -- but your sock is light enough to work for me. Making one would be my first DIY... I don't quite get the way that whole thing sews together (a little slow, I know...) Would love to see a video. Oh, actually, the one compromise I wonder about is going without a structural ridgeline. You don't find that it reduces your hanging options? Are you happy with your lighter ridge setup? Again, spectacular innovation.
Nice job Rock,,, very impressive.
Very impressive SGT Rock. Thanks for sharing all your hard work!
