i can think of a very easy setup that could be set up while someone slept in their hammock. it would consist of suspend a bucket of water over the hammock and a cord attacked to the hammock so that when weight is taken out of the hammock the bucket tips.

    That's Funny!

Yeah, I've gotten a few paybacks too! Guess that's the drawback of the practical joke The last one I did was : he never had the Mountain House Lasagna before and I told him he had to put it in his pot and cook it. Well, if you've ever had a Mt House Lasagna, then you know the cheese in it sticks to everything and it's better left in it's package to cook and eat. He had a tuff time cleaning that pot out and I'm still on the hit list! Think he spent over an hour scrubbing it with sand!

My tent buddies got me once by really swinging me on both ends of my suspension while i was sleeping. It kind of scared me just because I didn't know what was happening. I figure they were just jealous. I still have to get them back...

I had that too, but there was only one guy doing the swinging. My first instinct when rudely awakened by this was to flail my arms, punching him in the nose. Lesson learned: When waking someone by giving them a healthy swing, stand at the foot end
Since I could not sleep any more after that I lent him the hammock for the remaining morning hours after which he insisted on buying the whole setup. My first convert! : proud:

When car-camping, the best practical joke imo is to drive off with the vehicle used as a stand

With so many folks using toggles in their suspension...I wonder if someone hasn't 'yanked a toggle' while the hammock was occupied.

That would end a hang abruptly.

Note to self ... if AS comes to the gorge ... tie my toggles in place!

Nah, not me. I'd stick to the Golden Rule in that situation.

It's just something to think about.

Second note to self ... beware of passive AS ... after all he is "angry" and he has mischievous thoughts

All kidding aside pal ... hope you can make it in October!

Watch "Farewell to the King" with Nick Nolte. Excellent hammock practical joke. Well, I thought that it was funny anyway.

My buddy likes to grab my toggle and pretend. If he ever does it I will yank off his rainfly (tent) the next time we are in a storm.

I have another buddy who likes to try and squeeze out farts into my hammock sock. I am now an expert at fast and efficient sock removal.
