I will be interested in your assessment Bradley.

I am torn between the Z-liner which is Clark-specific and an underquilt that I could use on both my NZ-250 and my Hennessey. So many decisions...

I haven't heard rave reviews of the Clark Z-Liner. I have two quilts that work just fine with the NX 250. I'd go with a conventional quilt...especially if your other rig is a Hennesy.

BTW...I took Mac's IX UQ down to the low forties last night with a 30 degree bag and felt quite comfortable.

Has anyone made any decisions on an underquilt or pocket system. If so has it worked out.

I have the Z-Liner and have used it this season only so far
    and only to about 8°c / 46°F

I have heard of one report
    down to -18°c / -2°F
with the use of thermal sleepwear

    My post, My Bad.

I ended up buying a Hammock Gear Crowsnest 3/4 length 3-season UQ from Stormcrow. I recently used it for 5 nights in a row, and was toasty and pleased each and every night.

I opted for the UQ instead of the Z-Liner so that I can use it with my Hennessey when needed. The Z looks like a great system, but I opted for flexibility.

Never used the Zliner. My NA was fine when sleeping in about 55 degree weather. Even a small amount of clothing in the pockets keep it warm enough. I had a nice sleeping bag inside with me... but I was never cold through out the night.

    Underquilt

After reading through the forum, I think I'm leaning toward either a winter incubator by Stormcrow or going with the pocket system by clark. It gets pretty cold up here in New England. I'm currently using an insulated air core inflatable pad. it does ok. But I think an underquilt would be more comfortable.

I currently have the UNderCover and UnderPad for my Hennessey, but I was considering an underquilt for both the HH and the CJH. What I was wondering was if anyone made use of Clark's pockets as holders for individual "pillows" of insulation (either synthetic or down) rather than use an UQ?

It seems to me that an UQ would offer more even insulation, but I am open to any and all ideas.

I have been using emergency space blankets in the pockets on the underside of my C.H. I took two blankets cut each in to thirds then stuffed them in the pockets. I have only tried this in to the low 40's but it works great. I am going for low 30's tonight. Cheap, light and compact. A trifecta if there ever was one.
