    suspension capacity?

A search turned up no clear answer so here is a quick question.

Is the hammock weight rating directly related to only the suspension or is it part of the material also. Example.
The ENO hammocks have a 400lb limit and each of the slap straps say 200lb a piece, simple enough. If I upgrade to webbing with cinch buckles or tri glides, is the new capacity whatever the new webbing is? What would the weight capacity of the ENO be with polyester webbing (like AEI)?

The hammocks capability has nothing to do with the webbing's capability, the two are independent of each other.

Just to add to what Paul has said. The polyester webbing he sells has a rating of 1200 pounds.

Quite right....even if you change out the suspension, the hammock will still only be rated to 400lbs. The fabric is the weakest part, not the webbing.

Yes the ENO will always be 400 lbs maximum regardless of what suspension you use.

The hammock is still only rated at 400#. The suspension has nothing to do with the rating of the hammock. If you hung from dental floss the hammock would still be rated at 400# even though the suspension would not be. By the same token if you hung from 1" amsteel that is rated at what 80'000# I think, your hammock would still only be rated at 400#. I hope this helps.

    Im not in agreeance here.
The rating would change if inferior products were used for the suspension.

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

But, I do agree that the tenacity/strength of the fabric itself does not change.

A hammock without a suspension is called a blanket.
