First Yooper Northern Canoe Hammock Hang- Interested?

I don't know if it's too early to shoot this out there, but I'm thinking Fall already.

At the last Northern Hang there seemed to be some interest in having a fall canoe outing. I'm proposing a tentative date of Oct 8-13. Early Oct in the U.P. is beautiful: no bugs, fewer people, crisp air, etc... But winter comes early there sometimes; I've been there during that time frame and seen snow. You'll have to be prepared for hardy cool weather paddling.

I'm think of the Sylvania Wilderness since it is easy to access, and there are lots of places to portage to and explore that are not too difficult. Bass fishing is outstanding (catch and release only). The park is officially "off-season" at that time and the campsites are available on a first-come registration basis. (The competition is also reduced, compared to the summer when they are usually booked)

I'm going to be in central Wisconsin for a medical conference Oct6-8, so I'm already half way there. We would need to register for several sites since there is a 6 person limit per site. Best if we could clinch them on Thursday to get adjacent sites (I'm thinking Loon Lake) or sites across the lake from each other.

    I'm sure Lonetracker was interested.

My first overnight hiking trip was into the Sylvania back in the late 70's. There are still a number of old-growth white pine stands. Some of those trees are HUUUUGGE!!! Five of us Boy Scouts held hands and made a circle around one of those trees- four of us couldn't reach all the way 'round!

    Bring extra straps!

I'm leaving in the morning for northwest Ontario to "hammock test" my new MolyMac Baby Orca UQ and Blackbird 3/4 summer UQ while paddling the Brightsand River near Wabakimi. (just been toooo hotttttt here to push the limits of the test)

So, I'm going to leave this discussion to y'all to continue until I get back in a few weeks.

    Yooper Hang

Looks like a great weekend. Was there in June Loon Lake, & love Sylvania. Am planning on Yooper Hang. Middle of week works best as I am retired but wifee is not. Am solo tripping but have canoe & will share paddling/portaging if someone needs boat space. If portaging is not an option then consider Crooked Lake. Well named.

Looks like a beauty of a spot Canoeski! I'm tied up with my daughter's marching band the first few weekends in October. I could possibly do the last 2 weekends of October.

    Canoeski,
I'll be in the BWCA Sep 20 - 25 hanging out in my Clark UL + a new Baby Orca. I'll be interested to hear your report on your Baby Orca UQ. A paddle/hang sounds like a lot of fun. I can't commit yet, but will follow this thread. I'm anxious to get together with other hammockers.
