Video: Introducing The Molly Mac Gear Box

Where does Molly put her Possibles?

Things 1 & 2 just returned from field testing the new Molly Mac Gear Box, a waterproof gear hammock and haversack. This gear hammock is modeled after the IX Hammock Sock... has a SEEP (Side Entry/Exit Portal). It also has an offset ridgeline, and is made with a single piece of fabric roughly 5' x 5'. The whole Gear Box, including the whoopie slings, weighs 4.4 ounces. Just as with the IX Hammock Sock, the SEEP has a pocket in the center. Put a bottle of water in the pocket, and it will stay closed. It has a loop for staking the SEEP closed and swaying the Gear Box out of the way.

This afternoon, I'm headed to Dark Mountain, at the north end of the UWharrie Trail, for a S24O with EFlat7 and friends. It's supposed to rain, but I'll have my Molly Mac Gear Box with me!

The only question I have....why call it a box?

It's a "Gear Box" but you can call it anything you want!

P.S. I guess I'm not always thinking outside the box...

To be honest it kind of creeps me out because it looks like a dead body. or something out of a sci-fi movie like a man sized bug in a cocoon.

Hey Mac, that's pretty nifty! I like the idea. For 4 oz, it seems like a good way to keep extra clothes, pack, boots, camp kitchen, small firewood, or other items up off the ground and protected from rain. Looks like 20+ pounds are swallowed without problem. What kind of volume do you think it holds? Ie. Think it would hold your pack? Or two? Have you tried it out in heavy rain? Any issues with water running down your suspension to your whipping and under the end of the seep (I think I saw the seep sewn to the ridge line side at the ends?)

I love these ideas you keep coming up with! Keep bringin' them! Will we be seeing this in store(s) any time soon?
