Saw these at Mountain Laurel Designs (http://www.mountainlaureldesigns.com...products_id=62)
They claim it holds ~150 lbs and weighs 3 grams. Has anybody tried one?

That is actually a great biner with a very good wiregate. It is used as a marketing tool with printing names on it. You can get one with your name on it if you wish.

We tried using one of those on a ridge line - Not from MLD, but another company with the same 150 lb claim - they all come from the same source.
The biner pulled open as soon as someone tried to get into the hammock.
The biner is good for anything which you do not value too highly.
I have them as well, as do several other shops-- definatly not for hanging on, I bent one easily(did not break though), but two held me. So I think they are good to less than a hundred pounds. I think any more than that would be seriously pushing their capability.

Good for hanging tarps, not so good at hanging hammocks.
I tried one for my ridge-line and saw it start to bend as I sat in the hammock. That is why I changed to a nacrabiner.
150 pound rating for a binner isn't a lot if you're gonna be trying it for your hammock!! For my hammock I got some of these
http://www.treklightgear.com/catalog...-Pair-7p15.htm
they're cheaper if you get the pair and I went ahead and got 2 pair. Didn't know at the time what I wanted the extra pair for but ended up outfitting a hammock for my daughter.
I've been using the Treklight carabiners for a couple of years now, and they're excellent. The company Trek-light buys them from had their URL on the packaging, so I ordered a bunch with my logo. I just need to start a company to go with the logo. Getting 25 or more brought the price down to about $3.25, I think. Now I've replaced a lot of biners with loop-shackles ("Nacrabiners") to save weight, but I like to have at least one of these things at the ridgeline-tree hugger connection for quicker connect/disconnect. Also I run the end of the whoopie sling through the biner so I can pull it tight. The amsteel slides over the biner better than the loop shackle at the other end. I used them on the adjustable tendons of my tensegity hammock stand for the same reason.
