Might need to pack ice in that flap and run one of those little fans!
That's just nasty hot weather ... come on autumn!

Not a backpacking idea ... but what if a guy made a small container ... tuperware'ish ... vented on two edges ... insert a block of dry ice ... small battery powered fan on one end ... hang from ridgeline ... nice cool air blowing on a sweaty old guy in his hammock ... hmmmm

OK that last part wasn't so visually appealing but you get the point

What is the condensation like in these hammock socks? I was thinking about making one with DWR on bottom and regular breathable ripstop on top. In this case, the top would be the flap, and might be a good combination. Condensation was my main thought as you closed the flap in the video. Ok, right after how cool the pockets are.

I think condensation would be a problem if the sock was made from something like sil-nylon. The DWR is a breathable material.

I've used mine in all kinds of conditions and from cold to cool temps, and I've only experienced condensation a few times. Only one time was it really bad, and that's when Joker and I were both in the same hammock at Mt Rogers, at the winter hang when the freezing fog came thru...so there were a few issues working against us that night.

I had two hammocks in my sock at Congaree State Park in SC (humid and cool) and we didn't have an uncomfortable level condensation.

Many times I've slept with my head inside the sock and not detected any increased level of condensation.

I'm thinking of trying a bug-net based on this design. A couple of slight modifications to how it is put together though.

Now you may see why I wanted no vertical cuts. In the MMG IX Hammock Sock, it is insulated up to the edge of the hammock, and the top above that is breathable nylon.

That breathable nylon can be replaced with a bugnet, so you could have an insulated sock with a bugnet. Of course, you could also have a non-insulated sock with a bugnet.

The point is that the delineation is above and below the hammock. The SEEP is only part of the top.

I also want to make a sock with SEEP that is all no-see-um.

My major concern is getting it to stay sealed at all times to prevent the nasty critters from coming in.

That and what I will have to promise my wife to take on another sewing project.
