    2x4 phs mod

I just completed the 2x4 PHS from Trail4U (?) and absolutely love it. The blocks on the outriggers help keep it off the floor, since I first used it in the house. When used in the house, there is a problem with the tie outs with my HH Exped. Yes, I know to use furniture, chairs or whatever is handy, but I tried something that works really well. I'm trying to get the pics to load, but my connection is not good at my house, so I'll just tell you all about it, for now.
I bought a spare set of fiberglass tent poles at Academy Sports for $6.00. I made them into two three foot flexible poles. I then drilled a 3/8" hole in the two outriggers at the correct angle for the tie outs on my HH and angled them away from the hammock to allow for the flex. I then tied the HH bungees to each of the two poles. Voila! The HH now has the best fit with the tie outs making it more stable. These flexible tent poles seem to work just fine for indoor hanging. When I can upload the pics, you'll see the stock tarp added, just for grins.
For the indoor hanger, this cheap mod makes the 2x4 PHS almost perfect. Has anyone else tried this?
Note that the tarp is NOT there when hanging inside! Duh!

    Nice idea.
Although, I've never needed a tarp indoors. It would be nice to have a spot to string up some prototypes.

I would love to see some pictures of this. Sounds great.

I did something similar with my outdoor hammock stand when using it over a patio. Just used some tarp poles I had around as outriggers but your solution sounds more elegant.

Knotty, I don't know about elegant, but it was cheap. I really like your design. Funny what hangers come up with. That's what makes this forum so fun to check all the time!

Don't be so modest. You're approach trumps mine. No poles on the ground to step on and break. Nice work.

Knotty, where did you get those metal 'elbows' for your frame? I have seen a couple people use them but I'm not sure if they can be purchased of it they are things people had made custom from a welder, etc.

Hammocks.com had them last year on clearance. Originally $125, reduced to $20 including shipping. Kicking myself for not ordering a second set since they're not available anymore.

I'm going to talk to a fella tonight about making some of these for 2x6's. I could easily ask about them for 4x4's. Want me to ask how much he would sell some of them for if he agrees to make them?
