I really enjoy my hammock better with a pillow. I tried several different things, clothes in a stuff sack etc. etc.
Once I tried the "Bear" pillow from Paul at Arrowhead, I didn't need to look any farther.

He is your friend, your companion, your defender... he is your dog. You are his life, his leader, and master. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of that devotion.
I have only used a sweatshirt or vest but would like to have an actual pillow. I have tried sleeping without a pillow and did not like it.

I'm colder with a pillow. Weird I know. Thermal top does the trick for me.
In Winter 100%. On my week hike I took one and Ill probally use cloths in stuff sack next time for a longer hike. But if its going to be a weekend or a handful of days I wont leave my loose stuff bear pillow at home. Im a pillow snob and thats one thing I believe is well worth the weight for my comfort but its all a matter of H'ingYOH http://http://arrowheadequipment.web...s/show/1042875
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.
Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
I have two fused cervical vertebrae and I swear by the Graham FLEXair pillow that Jacks R Better sells http://jacksrbetter.com/images/PillowButton_000.png. It's adjustable so I can dial it in just right every night.
Hiking & Hanging is therapy, and much cheaper than medication in the long run. Carry on.

if I'm not having to carry all my gear (car camping, scout camp, kayaking) I use a kelty down stuffed pillow. It's really small and I could backpack with it if I wanted to. Backpacking I've been using a stuff sack with spare clothes in it. But lately I've been reducing the amount of "spare" clothes I carry and there's nothing to put in the stuff sack!! So I'm gonna look into making myself a climashield stuffed pillow. I've still got some down left over from my quilt project so I'm thinking of some in the pillow. Pillow will be about 4x6. I really only need something under my neck.
Right now I am using a MEC synthetic camping pillow (was cheap) as I currently need a pillow to sleep. I wish I didn't but even when I am at home in my bed I need 2 pillows. I am working on getting comfortable at a much more natural neck angle but for now I deal.
To me compressible backpacking pillows seem silly. I don't want my pillow to be compressed by my head.

I use a pillow...always but not for what you think. Sometimes I twist around and my face lies against the mosquito netting. You can imagine what happens next. The pillow is my defense.
