We call that Hobo Camp. You should be able to find a route to the river through that camp going kind of southeast downt the hill. It's easier than going down the nearby gully!

    Yeah that's it ... 100 to 150 yards maybe ...

I was looking at the trail on the Nat Geo map and your description of where to go. Seems like there are a lot of place names that aren't on that map LOL.

Also, if I end up doing this any one of you hammockers are invited to tag along.

Wish I could ... but this weekend belongs to the hot little blonde that lives in my house ... or I in hers

Yeah Ken's site has a collection of tracks and way points gathered over the last couple years and other than Ken's site ... you won't find anywhere else unless it was stolen from there!

Yeah, most of the places and features were named by hikers and climbers. The forest service and map makers don't use them, or even know what they are. Feel free to ask questions though.

Here's a MAP I made a few years ago that might help you. It's a big download, but has the waypoints we had at that time.

I found out after getting back from this past weekend. Some ground dwellers I know were right up the river from us at Bable Tower when we were at the CCT

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.

Hmmm ... we'll talk when it gets closer ... if the boss doesn't send me to a far off land before then ... maybe I could meet up with you some where ... heck Ken and Jimbo might be able to meet up too ... even if for the day along the trail on Sunday.

I'm headed to Townsend tonight to pick up some people by 9 this evening. If you will be anywhere along the way (say between 7:30 and 8:30 this evening), I can meet you and drop it off.

I'm glad that section has a maintainer again. I've been meaning to get back there, but the recent heat has been above my tolerance level for doing trail maintenance.

Speaking of heat, the Gorge will probably be a bit toasty as well. The burned out section on Shortoff comes to mind particularly.

PM me for the map if you want it tonight. If not, I can get up there next week some time as well.

I just got home a little bit ago and didn't see this. I could meet you on US 321 somewhere.
