Little heads up ... if you are close to an Eddie Bauer store ... you can go in there and order it ... and you won't pay the stupid handling charge or shipping ... just the sale price and tax.

AND if it doesn't work out ... you can return it to the store.

I just tried Hawkeye's tip about ordering through your local store, & pick up item there when it comes in to save shipping. Called the local Bauer store to order, was told Bauer doesn't ship to stores, only to customer addresses, so no way to avoid shipping. If you want to return, you can still save return shipping by returning it to any local store with receipt. Might be worth calling your own local store; YMMV.

The vest is 7.8 ounces, maybe not as UL as Montbell's UL vest at 5 oz but lighter than most 'lightweight' down vests which average 11-14 ounces or more.
Looks more compressible. The 14 oz down jacket is a screamin' bargain too.

The site says these are athletic/trim cut which I suppose means you might want to go up a size depending on how you do your layering...

Well ... just ordered my vest at the store in Greensboro and ... no shipping or handling fees ... and yeah it's going to my house. So ... don't know what to tell ya.

Like I said, the one store near me either doesn't, or doesn't know how.
So call your local store/s, YMMV. Glad it worked for you in NC.

Thanks, Zmad! Just ordered the jacket. I've been looking for this kind of a deal for a long while, usually if the price is right, it's only available in XS and Circus Tent OR only blaze orange, purple polka dot, or zebra stripe.

two things I love, earth toned gear and not paying full price for quality merchandise.
