    Walmart's travel hammock? the Equip

I ran across this on the walmart website. i was wondering though if anyone had experience with these? if its comparable to an ENO at $20 thats one heck of a steal, esp for those that are tentative about hammocking and want to try it cheaply.

i was thinking lose the suspension. about 30 ft of 7/64" amsteel (whoopies, chain links and ASR), descender rings, ratchet straps = ~$35 respectable starter hammock

I'll let you know what it's like when it gets here in 7 to 10 business days. I'm assuming it'll be too short for me (6'4"), but we'll see.

i'll probably get hung by the other members for saying this, but ive got 3 of these. there a kylysto hammock, and apart from being rather heavy, they are quite comfy. i know it isnt a hennessy, an eno, or a blackbird, but for the price well worth the money.. ive had one in my back-yard stand for a year now, rain and shine, just to test durabillity, and its holding up great, DEF. get rid of the suspension. edit ( didnt pay attention to the name, this took the place of the kylisto, but sure its probably the same)

To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious Persian rug.

IMO any hammock is a good hammock as long you are comfortable in it. Do not let the peoples opinions sway you. I have one very similar to this that was given to me. The stock suspension on it was pretty heavy so I changed it out with 7/64 amsteel whoopie slings and a adjustable ridge line. It is a very serviceable hammock weighing in at 13oz. I would not hesitate to get one of the walmart hammocks. You can not hardly go wrong for the price.

As long as you are comfy and it works for you that's all that matters. Don't know if they will have them in Canada but I'll have to take a look.

I spent some time in that one during my week at camp. Our oldest Eagle Scout has been listening to me sing the praises of hammocks. He finally picked up the only hammock he could afford. While I was laying in it the knot came undone, so I'd check that close before you hang if you weigh more than a skinny 17 year old. Other than that, it worked just fine. He spent several nights in it and only fell out once.
