Because campgrounds around where I live are $15-$30 per person, per night!

So I may want to just string up somewhere and enjoy a quiet night, without a big white tarp with orange guy lines.

Come on, you make the big bucks, shell out for some of that 10,000 foot spool!

Well, just got a call that the manufactures rep is out till mid next week so no answer today, but I will let you know what I find out. They did tell me that they thought they had to order 4 spools minimum, most spools are 500 foot each so.....that may make it hard to swing without some commitments for some decent footage. But I will post once I have a better idea of what it would run.

    Reflective shock cord

    Hi -

Well I know this thread is old, but I thought I'd put my $0.02 in.

I'm ALWAYS tripping on my tie-out shock cords, and since I couldn't find any reflective shock cord I came up with an alternate solution.

I bought some reflective 550 cord, stripped out the core, cut to about 2 or 3 feet length and melted the edges gently so they wouldn't fray. By melting the edges I created little paracord tubes which I slid over the tie-out shockcord.

The tubes tend to slide to the bottom of the tie out near the ground, which is just where I want them so I can maneuver around them when the call of excessive hydration calls in the middle of the night :-)

I thought I was stealth and was busted last week.

OK, so I should have sold blood for Clark's camo surcharge, and certainly should have been gone at 6AM dawn. When local police and back-up awakened me with "What have here?", they weren't expressing admiration for my kit as an opening to an early-hours before-breakfast chat. (Also, always be better prepared than I was. The answer to discovery that probably occurs in the AM is a rehearsed story that you couldn't sleep at all last night, so set up after dawn to finally get some needed rest.)

    ----------

Anyway, jlara's suggestion of how to keep the stealth where you want it is one I'd endorse.

And whatever is recommended here, please let it be clear what it does under what condition.

For myself, I've taken to night-time use of Petzl's Tactikka or Zipka red filters or red LEDs, respectively.

There must be much more advice elsewhere. (Ed Speer's book?) I know I have been surprised at how much some of my clothing behaves as it were made to show up under LED lights / torches. Kind of UV - light sensitive in behavior.

Did anyone ever find any reflective sc? I found some 1/8" on ebay, but was hoping for something smaller.
