    Need a Tarp ASAP

Well I have stumbeled on a trip that I cant pass up and need a trap ASAP and dont have time to have MacCat made by OES and really planned on buying one first of next month and would have been able to wait but now this has come up and I need to buy one quick like next week. Does anyone have one for sale or would be willing to sell there's and get a new one. I would normally just order mine but from what I have heard it takes some time for him to make them.
I would like to buy a MacCat deluxe if at all possible if it's in good shape I will pay what OES wants for a new one for a used one if it is in good shape.

I wish this would have come up towards the end of novermber instead of now. I may have to just go to gander mountain and get a plan tarp.
But I thought I would ask first.

The last time I looked at Brian's (OES) website he had tarps in stock ready to ship. I would email him. The Sportsman's Guide tarp has lots of fans, the seam is on the diagonal, which is what you need for a hammock of course.

For the price the sportsmans guide would be a good second choice tarp for this trip. Then get the MacCat when you get back. You are only out about $30, and you could sell it on here if you don't want it anymore. Then you are out only a few bucks.

Didn't you get a Clark NA? I know that a lot of people knock that tarp but it will keep you dry in a storm easier than an aftermarket tarp. I have slept through many storms in a Clark UL with the tarp buttoned down and stayed dry. You do not have to worry about blowing rain when you close the ends. You will get more coverage with the stock tarp than a MacCat Standard and the Deluxe only adds about 6" on the head end and you have deal with blowing rain. The MacCat is a great tarp but I would not think twice about using the Clark tarp on a trip.

really I thought that it might give me some better shelter with the MacCat tarp. for cooking and rainy days but if you think that I will be good then maybe I just am jumping to the gun. I do have a XL rain fly.

The SG tarp would give you more coverage but I really don't think you will gain that much with the MacCat. If you base camp alot go ahead and get a SG but for hiking were weight is an issue I would just use the Clark tarp. It only weighs 8.8oz and I rarely carried stakes for it because the angle the lines come off the tarp I was always able to find something to tie to.

If you are setting up camp in the same place for more than the night go with the SG even with the weight. If you are hiking and just setting up camp to eat then sleep use the stock tarp.
