Spent 7 nights in the BWCA with my son and his scout troop. Sam and I were the only hangers in the crowd and made out great, not a root or rock to bother us. We had great spots at each of campsites and even pulled off a double hanger one night using 3 trees to hang our Warbonnet Hammocks.
Really a good experience for our first trip hanging, no longer ground dwellers!!

Nuthin better than BWCA hangin'. Done the whole BRT and Kek hanging, and never had a problem finding 2 trees!

The BWCA (American side of the border) and the Quetico Provincial Park (on the Canadian side of the border) are terrific areas for canoe tripping and hanging. There are even a few backpacking trails (not for the faint-hearted or unskilled!!) that are good adventure.
The downside is that getting permits for the dates and places you want to go usually means starting to apply in January. The fees are non-trivial as well, especially for US citizens going to Canada (Quetico, e.g. C$20 per adult per night). I think it's worth it, but it'll never be a "bargain" price vacation. The outfitters that work in that area (Ely to the west and along the Gunflint Trail to the east) are first-rate resources to help with planning, routing, and permits.
FWIW, the BWCA gets around 5-10 times the number of visitors that the Quetico Park gets.

Entry Point was Fall Lake, up through Pipestone, Basswood onto Crooked the back through Horse River, Horse Lake and exited Mudro. About 55 total miles if you count the double portage miles.

Yes the points were when I hit the "OK" button and the trail is the 10 minute follow me trak. It really is a neat tool to come home and see actually where we went. Not that expensive when you consider the cost of life these days.
