    Brand New

Hi everyone Big Bear Camper here. I'm new to the world of hanging, as a matter of fact, I'm so new that I've yet to purchase my first hammock. Which leads me to my question. What hammock would be a good one to purchase for someone who is around 300 pounds? I have it narrowed down to two, either the Hennessy hammock or, the Clark hammock. I know that the Hennessy is a bit cheaper but, the Clark has a higher weight capacity. So, I'd like to hear your thoughts on these two hammocks.

    Thanks
    Big Bear Camper

Welcome to you BigBearCamper from PoppaBear. I think both of the hammocks you mention are fine hammocks. Each of them have a following here on the forums. You might also want to give the WBBB 1.7 a look see. It is a fine hammock. I am 6'3" 230-240 lbish down from 390-400ish. I was in the 300 lb range whew I first got my Warbonnet and it has served me well.

Welcome! I'm about 280lbs and love my Warbonnet Blackbird. I have an old Clark that is not as comfortable as my WBBB. It is an extremely popular hammock made by a member here.

Buy American buy Warbonnet. I've got four of Brandon's hammocks..design genius.
And when you get your tarp McCat is what you need to know.
When you order your Warbonnet go ahead and order some whoopie slings even if you don't know exactly what they are at this point in time.

    Welcome to the forum.

I am 270+ and 6ft2+ and have a Blackbird 1.7 double, very nice hammock.

Now if Bandon would only start selling Warbonnett T shirts....
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

The DD Travel Hammock would be another option. http://www.ddhammocks.com/products/h...travel-hammock

I've been happy with mine, and at $95 shipped from the UK I think it's a good deal... but like others you'll want to upgrade suspension.

Your choices for things like suspension, hammock, and tarp should be somewhat informed by what you want them for. Backpacking? Canoe/kayak trips? Just "car camping"? Many "ultralight" hammocks have weight limits of 250 lbs or less, but just as an example my DD tarp at approx 10'x10' and made of coated polyester is great for car camping or paddle trips, but kinda heavy to cram into a backpack. OTOH, I have a HH silnylon tarp which weighs 1/3 what the DD does, but it's very small... why live with that if you're not carrying it far?

Some info on intended use and what seasons you plan to camp in will help with equipment suggestions.
