while visting relatives in syracuse on a return from a business trip to Troy, I stopped at a walmart and found a rip-stop waterproof $1/yard material in dark green - bought all 12 yards of it. My best guess is that it is a 1.1oz polyester because it is silky. It holds water like the non-ripstop material I used to make a weather shield and pack cover/gear hammock. I'm going to use this to make a 12 x 12 tarp. Well...I'm going to pay someone to make a 12 x 12 tarp out of it so i need some plans I can give to a seamstress.

Thunderstorms were about to move in so i set up the weather shield I had made for the Claytor out of the mystery walmart fabric. I set it up as a tarp to see how waterproof it was. due to the wind I had to attach some extra tie outs with Coghlam's tarp holders:

after the storm, the deck was soaked but the area under the weathershield was bone dry. The water was beaded up on the weather shield like mecury droplets and they just shook off. however, both sides of the tarp was damp where the tarp holders had been attached. I'm not certain if that happen during the storm or by me trying to detach the tarp holders.
