    Noob in NC

I'm an Assistant Scoutmaster in North Carolina. I went on a scouting trip to Texas in early July. Oh my gosh it was hot! Sleeping on the ground was pretty miserable.

There weren't any ticks but I'm pretty sure that's just because the Tarantulas and the Scorpions ate them.

After Texas, I decided it was time to get off the ground... found this forum and took the plunge. I've got a rig setup with many of the suggestions learned here. No trips as yet, but I have slept out a few nights.. pretty sweet for the most part except for waking up with a stiff neck... I think I will have to add a pillow to the setup.

The folks on this forum are great!

Another NC welcome, JW. I think hammocks are slowly making their way into scouting. Several in our troop use them.
