    Another NC noob

Another NC noob here from the Outer Banks.

Most of my trips are kayak camping in coastal North Carolina. Another favorite spot is Minnesota's Boundary Waters and Canada's Quetico Wilderness. All are great spots for a hammock.

I am about to make my first hammock purchase. Think I've narrowed it down to a Hennesy or Warbonnet. Came here to learn if I've missed anything.

Hard to go wrong with a Warbonnet Blackbird (my hammock of choice)! Then you get to think about swapping out the suspension, decide on bottom insulation, tarp, etc. If you haven't done so already, spend some time laughing and learning with Shug's videos HERE.

    Oh yes, and WELCOME!!

Wow! Thanks for the welcome, y'all.

I've only watched one of Shug's videos (they're classics!), but I can already tell that I've found a great new place to indulge my gear-aholic tendencies.

Having been raised in Minnesota, I loved Shug's demonstration of mosquito netting in the middle of a Minnesota winter day. Great entertainment.

Welcome to HF! Glad you could join us.

I'd like to do a coastal kayak trip out there sometime.

A friend of mine and I have been talking about kayak camping at Bear Island for over 10 years now. I guess we'll get there at some point. Maybe.

NCPat -- Bear Island is one of my favorites for base camping. Not a good place for hammocks, though. I doubt there is a tree over three feet tall on the entire island.
