Had to go to a family reunion over the weekend. The fam stayed in a hotel about 30 miles from the family cabin where the reunion is held. I found this to be the perfect opportunity for a solo hang.
You can see I was hanging in the tree line a good ways up from the cabin where the reunion was held. The pictures don’t do the slope or the height justice. The wife dropped me off and I hiked in a little before dark on Friday and slept about 100 yards behind the cabin, and was not seen until I came out of the woods as people were arriving for the reunion the next afternoon.
I always get nervous in bear country because I don't normally hang where that is an issue, but it was great. Slept 9 hours without waking up. You can tell by the two pics of my face in the gallery. One was just waking up after a comatose night’s sleep, and the other is after I jumped in the river. No humidity there this weekend and the temp was 58 degrees at night! I swear the mountain air smelled like flowers.
My favorite picture in the gallery is the one where you can barely see the cabin through the trees. That was the view Saturday morning from the hammock!
The two little girls are my daughter and my niece (they tell everyone they are sisters). They love to terrorize me in my hammock!
